Philosophy

Hansen Home and Pet Sitting is fully insured for the protection of your home and your pets. I became certified as a professional pet sitter through an extensive course offered by The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS). NAPPS is the only national non-profit trade association dedicated to serving the needs of professional pet sitters. The Association aims to help the pet owning public, those interested in pet sitting, and professionals engaged in the in-home pet care industry by fulfilling its vision statement, serving as “the most respected authority in professional pet sitting.” As a member of NAPPS, I have taken a Pledge of Professional Conduct which guides me in conducting my business by the highest standards of ethical behavior.  It also promotes humane interaction with animals and fellow human beings.

As you know, there are numerous benefits to using a pet sitter as opposed to leaving your pet unattended at home or risking boarding in a kennel. The Pet Owner Toolkit has guides on hiring a sitter, home and pet safety, questions to ask, etc. There is also a free 20 page booklet on emergency planning for pet owners.

Keep in mind that just because your dog can ‘hold it’, doesn’t mean it is comfortable for him or her.  All your dog wants to do is please you and will accept bowel discomfort just to be a ‘good dog’.  That’s just sad. Your cat may appear ‘aloof’, but you know that doesn’t mean he or she doesn’t prefer to have their human companions around.

Hansen Home and Pet Sitting has experience with the care of dogs, cats, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals, and birds. If you have a type of pet that I am not familiar with, I am more than willing to learn about their care through you and through my own research. If you would like to show me the particulars of your exotic pet’s care, I will do that at no cost to you.  I always strive to learn as much as possible about any types of animals that I own or care for.
